Sex Positions for Pregnant Couples

Sex Positions for Pregnant Couples

Just because you're pregnant doesn't mean you can't enjoy sex. In fact, some people are hornier than ever when pregnant because of all the hormones in your body. However, growing bellies and discomfort can require some creative logistics, like these sex positions.

Spooning

Spooning works well when you're heavily pregnant because your belly can rest on the bed--or a pillow on the mattress-- without getting in the way. In this position, your body is fully supported and won't bounce around. If you struggle with heartburn, lying on your left side can help. Plus, because you're facing the same direction, Spooning is an excellent position for morning sex when your breath might be less than fresh.

Doggy Style

If you're comfortable with your tummy hanging down while you're on all fours, Doggy Style is a great option. But it may be a bit uncomfortable in your final trimester. You can lean on or lay across pillows if you need more support. Of course, this position is great for deep penetration and G-spot stimulation, too, but feel free to ask your partner if you need them to use more shallow thrusts.

Cowgirl

In the classic woman-on-top position, you control the depth, angle, and speed. A few adjustments can make this sex position even more comfortable. Try leaning back on your arms or have your partner bend their knees so you can lean against their thighs. Spreading your thighs wider helps steady you and prevents your extra weight from pulling you forward.

Sitting

Sitting might be your favorite new sex position during pregnancy. You can sit directly on your partner's lap during intercourse with your thighs either inside or outside of theirs. Or simply sit on the edge of the bed or a chair. Then, swivel your hips in whatever way feels good. Alternatively, you can sit while your partner kneels in front of you to perform oral sex. Consider popping your feet up on a table, desk, or ottoman in front of you.

Alternatives to Intercourse When Pregnant

There are times when pregnancy makes intercourse too uncomfortable, no matter what position you try. Sometimes sex may not be safe for your health. Fortunately, toys offer an alternative for couples who want to be intimate. Vibrators, dildos, and masturbators all let you and your partner pleasure each other. Plus, partners may have easier access when using a dildo or another insertable toy because they don't have to work around a swelling belly.

Speaking of a partner's hands, taking turns giving sensual massages is incredibly intimate and can help relieve some of the soreness caused by pregnancy. Finally, mutual masturbation can be intimate, fun, relaxing, and satisfying without having to worry about how your bodies connect when there's a fetus growing between you.
